Recording Storage

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the best plan for me?

Basic: A great option for part-time or freelance tutors teaching under 20 hours per month. The $9 fee includes the first 10 hours per month, and subsequent hours are charged per hour.

Starter: Designed for full-time professional tutors or tutor groups, the Starter Plan includes your first 30 hours per month for $29, with additional hours charged at $1.80 per hour. It is the most affordable option until you reach roughly 70 billable hours per month, after which the Pro Plan will be cheaper.

Pro: Ideal for small- to mid-sized agencies billing 70-170 hours per month.

Advanced: Ideal for larger companies with more than 180 hours of online lessons per month.

Enterprise: This is for high-usage clients typically having more than 1,000 participant hours per month or with specific hosting, SLA, or integration requirements. Contact us for more information.

How is my usage calculated? / Are hours calculated only when both the student and teacher is online? / Do you bill for a minimum of an hour?

Per Hour usage is billed per second and only applies when there are two or more active connections in a Space at the same time. A "connection" refers to any device that has opened and is connected to the Space.

For example, if you had a 1-hour session on a Space, but both participants are only connected at the same time for 50 minutes, only those 50 minutes will be billed.

What is a connection?

We charge based on connections, not users. This means that each time a device accesses a Space, that is counted as one connection. If a single user opens two windows, each to the same Space, this will count as two connections and be billed for. We give ample warning to prevent this from happening.

What happens if I go over my plan's monthly included hours?

You'll be charged overage at your plan's rate. These extra hours will be invoiced along with your flat cost for the upcoming billing cycle.

Do unused hours roll over into the next month?

No. If you are under your hour limit at the end of a billing period, the unused hours do not roll over to the next billing period.

How is my storage used?

Your storage is used for all of your content, lessons, and recordings (if enabled). The single biggest use of storage is recording of audio and video - typically 500GB stores more than 1000 hours of recorded audio and video.

Can you issue a receipt or invoice for my organisation?

We automatically issue invoices, which are emailed to the owner of the organisation.

When do I get billed?

At the beginning of each billing cycle, you will be billed the flat rate of the current billing cycle as well as for any extra hours used over your monthly limit. This will all be reflected in a single invoice that will be sent via email. For example, if you signed up for a free 14-day trial on May 1st, after your free trial has expired, your billing cycle will begin on May 15th, meaning that you will next be billed on June 15th. Information about your billing cycle can be viewed in your upcoming invoice under the billing page of your organisation's settings.

If a month doesn't have the day on which you'd normally be billed, you'll be billed on the last day of the month instead.

What methods of payment can I use?

We currently accept most major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club) securely processed through our payment provider, Stripe.

Can I switch plans?

Yes, you may change your plan at any point. When the switch will take place depends on whether or not you're changing to a higher or a lower plan. Upgrades take place immediately, and you will be charged pro rata for the price of both plans. Downgrades will only take place at the end of the current billing cycle. When upgrading, any metered usage is not prorated but rather is carried over to the new upgraded plan.

How do I cancel or pause my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription from your billing page. When cancelled, your subscription will not be renewed at the end of your billing period, and you'll be able to keep using Lessonspace until then.

Subscription pausing is not currently available from the dashboard. If you wish to pause your subscription, you can either cancel it and reactivate it when you need, or get in touch with us at support@thelessonspace.com
